The Bengals set a record with heartbreaking losses to begin the season.

To say the Cincinnati Bengals’ 2022 season has been difficult would be an understatement.

The 2-3 Bengals have not only lost three games by a total of eight points; they have also lost each of those games in the last seconds.

And it only gets worse.

According to ESPN’s Ben Baby, the Bengals are the only club in NFL history to lose three of its first five games on the final play.

Ouch.

The Ravens’ 19-17 loss on Sunday night was especially disappointing, with Joe Burrow guiding a late scoring drive and what should have been the game-winner. Instead, the defense surrendered just enough yardage in the final two minutes to allow a field goal.

With luck not being on the Bengals’ side as it was last year, the only option to combat this becoming historical tendency is to improve offensive consistency across games. Whether or if this is corrected will have a significant impact on the season’s fate.
