With Aaron Rodgers locked up in Green Bay to the tune of four years, $200 million; the Packers were able to squeeze under the cap enough to make some other important moves.
The first of which: keeping Davante Adams in green and yellow. And according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, “Thanks to the new cap room, the Packers are expected to franchise tag WR Davante Adams.”
Adams is riding high off two straight seasons that saw him garner a pair of first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl selections.
He and Rodgers have combined to be arguably the most unstoppable duo in the game when they’re clicking. And given the Packers other weapons; Adams is really the only option on the outside that Aaron can really on game in and game out.

The franchise tag would pay the five-time Pro Bowler just north of $18 million in 2022. Green Bay has until 4 PM ET on Tuesday to keep Adams in-house with the tag if the two sides can’t come to a long-term deal.
However, most insiders, including Rapoport, believe the Packers are destined to franchise Davante for the upcoming season.
