Colin Cowherd Reacts To The Aaron Rodgers Contract Rumors

Last week, ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported that Aaron Rodgers wants to be the highest-paid player in the NFL. That report was later refuted by Pat McAfee. Regardless of who’s right, Colin Cowherd would never pay Rodgers $50 million per year if that was his one and only demand.

“He’s winning a bad a division,” Cowherd said during his show on Monday. “I’m not paying you $50 million because you can win the NFC North. … There are 20 quarterbacks that would win that crappy NFC North last year.” The numbers back up Cowherd’s claim. Aaron Rodgers is as good a regular-season quarterback there is.

However, when the playoffs roll around Rodgers just isn’t as good. He’s 11-10 in playoff games and won his only Super Bowl 11 years ago. Rodgers will win you a division. He’ll probably take your team to the conference championship. But Rodgers has a tendency to get conservative in the biggest moments in the biggest games.

Cowherd would steer clear of paying the Packers quarterback big money, as a result. With that being said, Pat McAfee already came out and said the $50 million report is false. “Has anybody thought about just asking him? So I text him. That’s just not true,” McAfee said in response to Russini’s report.

“All of that stuff this morning about ruining him … I sent him, ‘Hey man, reports on you wanna be the highest-paid player by a wide margin, is that the thing you are currently, is that what’s going on right now?’ “‘Categorically false’ is what he said.” Does Aaron Rodgers deserve $50 million per year?
